I hid the assistants as shown in the blog post https://plumsail.com/blog/2015/08/org-chart-tip-how-to-hide-assistant-from-subordinates/, but now they do not show, when I search for them in the search field to the left. How do I get them to be searchable again?

I assume you use Office 365 version. Yes, there is this known issue with search. It has been fixed in On-Premises version. We are going to migrate it to Office 365 in a month.
