Hi,
I would recommend you to use standard SharePoint search to search employees. Then you can add link “View in org chart”. This link can look like “http://yoursite/orgchartpage.aspx?accountname=some@account.com”. Org Chart can take account name of employee from the URL and navigate to this person on page load.
Thus, your users will find appropriate person, then click “View in org chart” to review him in the org chart.
