HelpDesk email not getting sent

We are seeing the following error with our SMTP setting today. They have been working fine since we originally set it up.

We noticed that something is wrong with sending emails. Please check SMTP settings. We've tried updating the SMTP 3 times today, it has worked briefly but then the error returns.
