How can we disable grid

Hi how can we disable grid.

show and hide can be done via class method Show() and hide(). how to do the same for disable the grid?

and when we try d.field('GoalH12').disabled = true;
the there are gaps in the grayed out area and it doesn't look good. How do i get around this problem?
