Double Clicking Opens a Download Dialog

Hello all -

When I double click on any column in my sharepoint list, it opens a new tab and a DOWNLOAD dialog. The download is always a numbered file extension like this "25_.000".

I want to be able to double click to view the form.

Thanks

Hello @ChristianWentz,

I don't think I fully understood you.

Do you want to open the form from the List or Libary control on the form or are you talking about the SharePoint list view?

If you could share some screenshots that would be very helpful. Thank you!

Good morning- It seems that I have need for your help quite frequently. I am sorry for this. I am primarily a network security specialist, not a Sharepoint developer.

Yes, in the list view if I double click on any line of information it opens a download box in a new browser tab.
I want to be able to open the EDIT form on a double click - as is with the default forms. I am not sure how to go about this.

Thanks

Hello @ChristianWentz,

No problem at all! That is why I and my colleagues are here.

I'm sorry, but I'm not sure I fully understand what are you talking about.

If you have a SharePoint list, and double click on any item in a SharePoint list view, a display form opens in a new tab or in a panel, depends on the settings.
In this case, you can design both displays and edit forms, and set up the redirection. Please see example in the documentation here.

If you have a SharePoint library, and double click on any file in a SharePoint library view, a file opens for download or view/edit in the browser. This is a default SharePoint behavior.
