I’m experiencing massive performance issues with Plumsail Forms 3 Designer since the latest update, and I wanted to ask if others are seeing the same behavior or if there are any known fixes/workarounds.
Before the latest update, this exact form worked perfectly fine and was very smooth, even though it is a large Wizard form with many fields and rules.
Since the update:
the Designer became extremely slow
deleting/adding elements/controls can take several minutes.
moving between Wizard pages gets slower and slower
sometimes the Designer freezes completely
What’s strange is:
the actual SharePoint form itself still runs smoothly
the problem is mainly inside the Designer
I already tried basically every troubleshooting step I could find:
used the “One Click Cache Cleanup”
deleted local/session storage
removed Plumsail cache folders
reinstalled Plumsail multiple times
removed nearly all custom JavaScript
recreated parts of the form
followed all troubleshooting steps recommended online
Even after removing the custom code completely, the Designer is still extremely slow.
The form contains:
multiple Wizard pages
many fields and sections
conditional visibility logic
People Picker fields
Lookup fields
DataTables
The further I go in the Wizard, the worse the performance becomes, which makes me think the Designer keeps everything rendered in memory.
Has anyone else experienced this since the newest update?
Any help or recommendations would be greatly appreciated because before the latest update everything worked completely fine.
You are not the only one experiencing this issue, unfortunately. The good news is we are already working on a fix.
As a temporary workaround, you can regularly save your complex forms after making changes, and after each save switch back and forth between different form types - New, Edit or Display. If this does not work for you, let us know - this way we'll know that there might be another root cause.
I will post an update in this thread once there is any progress.
Thank you for your reply. I will try your workaround.
The issue is not the switching between the wizard steps themselves, the performance gets worse the further I go in the wizard. For example, if I add controls in the first wizard step, everything works fine and responds quickly. However, when I try to add controls or SharePoint fields in later steps, such as step 4 or 5, it can take around 3–5 minutes just to add a single control or field.
If I make a change, save it, and then switch to Display, Edit, or New Form, it still remain frozen for several minutes before becoming responsive again.
The only thing that works smoothly is opening a new browser tab. However, the overall performance issue remains, and it is still not really possible to work efficiently with the app.
