I am trying to set up the data source to be a list from the home of the site collection but when I try to type in the URL of the home in the Web URL field it returns an error. Is there a way to configure the web part this way?

Hi Dan,

This is not possible with the current version for SharePoint 2010. We fixed this for SharePoint 2013 version already.

We will release the new version of Org Chart for SharePoint 2010 next week. This version will include this fix.

If you have trial version of Org Chart you can request extension, just send e-mail to contact@plumsail.com. So, you will have enough time for evaluation.
