A regular SPD 2013 workflow won’t let me send an email to an AD security group unless I allow external people to send to it (because it always sends from no-reply@sharepointonline.com). Will the Workflow Actions Pack somehow let me send to an AD Security group, for instance by letting me specify the sender address to an internal user? Or somehow else?

Currently Workflow Actions Pack doesn’t support specifying security group, but if you specify group email (external or internal, it works with both) as “TO” parameter in workflow action, it will work and it will send a letter to security group mailbox.
