Sharepoint Field javascript customizations for enhanced multiline placeholder text

I have a couple of questions which I'm not sure work with the current version of Forms for SPO.

  1. Is it possible to change a multiline text's placeholder when a choice field is changed? It seems I can control it on initial render, but when changing the choice field, I cannot get it to update
  2. When using JS to change the placeholder text, is it still possible to add line breaks with \n? When I use \n it blanks out the placeholder.

After doing a bit more testing, I should have mentioned that I am using enhanced rich text for the multiline texts

I did some testing with plain text and it worked. I'm just using the standard fd.field('ColumnName').placeholder = 'placeholder text here';
