Is there any restrictions or special requirements on configuration in case that as data source is used an external list? It seems BDC service work fine because of data from SQL DB are showed correctly in external list. But Org Chart has a problem to find the root ID item. If data from the external list are exported to excel (by standard sharepoint function) and imported all unchanged data back into a new sharepoint list (by standard sharepoint application - Import Spreadsheet) it works perfectly without any throuble with ID root item. That implies that data source should be hopefully right. Any idea how this issue solve out?
