Plumsail HelpDesk - Existing O365 Groups

Can we install Helpdesk to an existing O365 group?

Hello Nick! It is impossible for new versions of HelpDesk (2.x.x), but you can request an old installation wizard for version 1.5.10. The one can be installed onto existing SharePoint sites and subsites, but you will have to use classic UI instead of the modern one.

It seems I misled you. You can install the classic version to the existing site and then update it to the modern one. This, you will get the current version of HelpDesk on the existing site. I will send you the installation wizard with a private message.

Hi Again and wher I can find the old releases downloads?

I sent it to you with a private message the other day. Please check your inbox.

Hi, I came across this old post and have the same question--but wanted to re ask it since the post is almost 5 years old now. I have an existing SharePoint Team site (associated with a Microsoft Team for our IT Department). We have a bunch of existing Lists on that site that I would like to eventually integrate into Plumsail Helpdesk with column lookups and form customizations (an Assets List, Vendors list, and others). After playing around with installing a 'sandbox' instance of Plumsail Helpdesk on a new SharePoint site and taking a brief look into migrating our existing Lists over to this new site, it seems like it MIGHT be a lot easier if I could install Plumsail Helpdesk on our existing site rather than migrating all of these existing lists to a new site.

Is that still possible using this technique of installing an older instance of Helpdesk and then upgrading? Any guidance is appreciated!

Thanks,
Jesse

You are right, Jesse. Since then we added the installation onto existing sites to the HelpDesk wizard. Please try and if you encounter any issues, let me know.

Oh...awesome! I will give that a shot. One more question related to that--
On my existing SharePoint site, I have a top nav bar with a bunch of links (maybe 50 or so nested under 6 top level links). Would installing Plumsail Helpdesk onto this site erase/replace my site navigation? If so, do you have any recommendation about a workaround for where I would keep all those navigation links somewhere? (Screenshot below of the nav links I'm referring to)

Thanks,
Jesse

HelpDesk will definitely modify the quick navigation bar but I am not sure whether it will replace your links with own or add them to yours. Also, HelpDesk is installed on a team site by default and yours seems to be a communication one. It should not affect the HelpDesk workability in general but I am not sure about how the interface will look and work. Please create a test communication site first, add a couple of custom links to the navigation bar, and install HelpDesk to it. Check whether it suits you and only then install HelpDesk to the site in use.
